1. Who we are
Fill My Ride ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Fill My Ride, ABN: 53 932 312 196. Contact: privacy@fillmyride.com.au.
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information when you use the Fill My Ride mobile app and related services. It is written to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
3. Information we collect
Provided by you
- Email address (on this website) - if you want to be notified at launch
- Account information (email address, display name) when you create an account
- Saved preferences (favourite fuel stations, home/work location, fuel-type preferences, discounts, vehicle information)
- Messages you send us via in-app support
Collected automatically
- Precise location (only when you grant permission) - used to find fuel stations near you
- Device identifiers (used by our analytics and crash-reporting tools)
- Usage data (screens viewed, features used, session length, where searches are made)
- Diagnostic data (crash reports, performance metrics)
Not collected
Payment information, contacts, health data, browsing history outside the app.
4. How we use your information
- To operate core features (showing nearby stations, saving favourites, account management, setup vehicles)
- To improve the app through aggregated analytics
- To diagnose and fix crashes
- To respond to support requests
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell any personally identifiable data.
5. Third parties we share data with
- Firebase / Google Analytics - analytics and crash reporting
- Map provider: OpenStreetMaps - map rendering
Fuel price and station data is sourced from FuelWatch (Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety, WA) and other public data feeds. We do not share your personal information with these sources.
6. Location data
Location is collected only when you grant permission and only while the app is in use. You can revoke permission anytime:
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Fill My Ride
- Android: Settings → Apps → Fill My Ride → Permissions → Location → Deny
7. Data storage and retention
- Account data is stored in Sydney, Australia. We do not store any data outside of Australia.
- We retain account data while your account is active, and for up to 30 days after account deletion.
- Diagnostic and analytics data is retained for up to 3 months in aggregated form
8. Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent for optional data collection
- Make a complaint
To exercise these rights, email privacy@fillmyride.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
9. Account deletion
You can delete your account directly in the app via Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by emailing privacy@fillmyride.com.au. Account deletion is permanent and removes all personal data within 30 days (except where we are legally required to retain it).
10. Children
Fill My Ride is not directed at those who are not of legal driving age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use industry-standard security (TLS in transit, encryption at rest, access controls). No system is perfectly secure; we notify affected users of any eligible data breach as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Our goal is never to hold any personally identifiable information that does not provide better services for you.
12. Changes to this policy
We'll post updates to this page and update the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be notified in-app.
13. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal information, contact us first at privacy@fillmyride.com.au. If unresolved, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
